There are many laptop coolers out there but this is the laptop cooler that I have personally chosen for my Acer Aspire laptop. Belkin calls it a laptop cooling stand so if you are looking for a Belkin laptop cooler, then you have come to the right place because now I will talk about this cool looking laptop cooling stand for you to judge.

I have actually bought this stand for its cool and stylish looks. If I were to buy and invest money on a laptop cooler, I might as well buy one that looks good with or without my laptop. Out of all the coolers I looked at, the Belkin F5L001 looked the best. Part of its cool looks comes from its patented wave design. Unlike the other laptop coolers that look ‘geeky’ and unstylish, its wave design not only pleases the eye, it actually has a more defined purpose which I am going to expound on further.

The Belkin F5L001 is different from other laptop coolers in that it doesn’t suck the heat out from the bottom of the laptop but instead blows it out. The concept is same as blowing your hot food to make it cooler or blowing on a hot cup of coffee to cool it down (you don’t suck the heat right? I don’t…). This is where the wave design comes in. When the cooling stand blows out the heat, the hot air exits via the natural air flow to the left and the right of the laptop through the space created by the wave design. See the diagram below for a clearer picture:

It also makes use of only one fan thus its power consumption is less leading to less heat generated. To use the cooler, you just have to plug it into one of your available USB slot and you are all set.

Belkin has also taken into consideration your different angles of usage. Like many of us, we use our laptop on our unstable laps. To make sure that our laptops don’t slip easily the Belkin F5L001 also has rubber pads on the top and the bottom of the surface. Neck and wrist strain is considerably reduced becaue of the gentle slope created when raisin the stand. Some say that it is noisy but it is not. The reason for this might be because the fan is probably dirty. Once you clean the fan after a period of usage, then everything will back to normal.

So if you are contemplating on buying a laptop cooler, add the Belkin F5L001 into your list as I am personally vouching for it.

Most if not all electronic devices generate heat and laptops are not exempt. The more powerful the laptop, the more heat it generates. It can be compared to running wherein the faster and harder a runner runs, the more body heat would be expelled from the runner. However, such heat is not welcome and is definitely a laptop’s archenemy. It has been proven time and time again to damage the laptop’s internal parts that brings the laptop to a complete halt. Memories get fried and hard disks get burned leaving the laptop owner frustrated and at a loss of words. Thus, avoiding such a problem is of the utmost importance for laptop owners and the number one solution to that problem is to buy laptop coolers. However, laptop owners might not be tech savvy and ask, how do they choose a good laptop cooler?

There are many factors to consider when buying a laptop cooler. Price, portability, technology and personal preference are some of the aspects to consider before buying one. Making all these factors jive is the key to buying a laptop cooler without regret. Let us take a look at each one of these factors.

The first one is of course the price. Laptop coolers vary in price. They can sell for as cheap as $5 dollars to as high as $60. Of course, with greater price comes better quality. If money is of no object, then buying an expensive one would certainly be an investment worth going for. However, that does not mean that those cheap laptop coolers won’t do the job. They might just be of lower quality and might last shorter. Choosing an average priced laptop cooler would certainly do the trick.

Portability is another key aspect to consider. There are 2 types of laptop coolers, one is fixed and the other one can be folded. Obviously, folded ones are more portable since it can fold up to a much compact size and be fit into a laptop bag. However, folded laptop coolers tend to consume more power to increase the rotation of the fans. On the other hand, fixed laptop coolers have a one-piece construction. They cannot be folded and are thus less transportable. But the upside is it has lower power consumption. In this aspect, fixed laptop coolers are better because though they are less transportable because of the space it consumes, that space is negligible because laptop coolers are generally small in size and can fit in any laptop bag.

Not all laptop coolers are created equal. Some are created using the latest technology in heat dissipation. This is related to the price factor mentioned just now as higher technology laptop coolers are generally more expensive than normal ones. They also tend to consume less power thus preserving battery life.

Last but not the least is personal preference. Choosing a laptop cooler is not all geeky stuff but can be influenced by personal style. Choose the color, shape and size of the laptop cooler that is soothing to your eyes. Buy one that meets your likes and suits your style. That is the key to a long laptop cooler life (because you would take care of it) and thus to a longer laptop life.

There are other factors to consider but the ones above are the primary ones that should affect any laptop cooler buyer’s decision.

When do you buy car insurance? The best time would be together with the car. This is to make sure that your car is insured from any damages incurred right after the sale. How about anti-virus software, when do you install it? The best time would be right after you install your operating system. This is so that any virus attack can be taken care of and dealt with when it strikes. So do you see where I am leading with this? Yes, you probably know the answer to the question above but let us expound a little bit.

What would happen if you buy a laptop cooler a few months after you buy your laptop? Well, hopefully nothing. If you are a veteran laptop user, you probably know of the dos and don’ts in taking care of your laptop and preventing it from overheating. But if you are one of those that are not, then chances are your laptop has already experienced overheating without you doing anything about it. You might have considered it normal until you encountered your first blue screen of death (if you are a Windows user…). This would probably irk you leading you to learn about cooling your laptop as a solution and leading you to the decision to buy a laptop cooler.

But what if you have decided to buy a laptop cooler right after or together with your laptop? Chances are you are still enjoying your laptop to the full without you experiencing any technical glitches or the likes. If you are a gamer, your gaming experience would be flawless all thanks to the cooling power of your laptop cooler. If you are an employee or a businessman using a laptop as a tool, then your work would be uninterrupted by unnecessary technical glitches.

Yes having a laptop cooler to cool your laptop could definitely make a big impact. Without it, laptop overheating would be a big problem for you. Fried hard disks, burnt memories and damaged LCDs are some of the common damages caused by laptop overheating that could have been averted by investing in a laptop cooler. Thus it is a very wise decision to buy a laptop cooler together with your laptop. If that is not possible for some reason, make sure to plan on buying one as soon as possible to protect your laptop.
